Lost Moon by Jim Lovell and Jeffrey Kluger

Apollo 13 and its crew narrowly escaped disaster in the attempt to return to Earth from the moon. Jim Lovell adds realism to this account with his unpolished, yet captivating, narrative of the grueling mission. Edward Hermann is articulate throughout the story. The narrative is quite technical, covering NASA's solutions to the many problems of Apollo 13, as well as the spacecraft itself, space travel and high-tech dialogue. With Hermann's smooth delivery, one doesn't feel the necessity to understand every technical detail. B.J.P. cAudioFile, Portland, Maine

I'm not sure this audiobook is available anywhere except the library - but it is an enjoyable rendition of a great book, the basis for the Apollo 13 movie (also great). The link above may get you to a used edition. This has the added interest of Jim Lovell's voice, as well as real NASA archival audio footage. A very good audiobook!

Dutchman's flat : [sound recording] Man riding west / by Louis L'Amour.
by L'Amour, Louis

Two nice stories read (and acted out) from Louis L'Amour. A good pair - I especially liked "Dutchman's Flat", the story of a posse hunting down a killer who carefully eludes them *AND* shows them his true character as they do it.
