The Lost Years by J.M. Dillard

The Lost Years The Lost Years by J.M. Dillard
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Filling in the blanks....

I've enjoyed Dillard's many Trek books - a touch of horror (vampires, demons, magicians) lurks there within the SF world of Trek. This is a good story that provides answers to the Trekkers - how did Kirk wind up an Admiral? Why did Spock attempt kolinahru? And it's all wrapped up in a story with ancient Vulcans, Romulans and more.

The Tears of the Singers by Melinda M. Snodgrass

Charming - another story around song, and Uhura!

After re-reading Uhura's Song recently, I had to get a copy (in print!) of this classic Trek novel.
A nice adventure wrapped around a mysterious space phenomena, "space baby seals," Klingons and a genius musician. Love, adventure and tragedy all wrapped together.

Excellent hard SF story, terrific premise.
Clarke does a good job creating a mystery - one which he doesn't actually *solve*, which I rather like - not sure if the sequels tie things down too much.

Resistance Reborn by Rebecca Roanhorse

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Good warm up to coming attractions (i.e. Episode 9). As always, Marc Thompson does an excellent job bringing the story to life, vocally giving the known characters voices and creating distinct characterizations for the new people.

Roanhorse does a great job drawing on current canon (film, TV, novels and more) to show the struggles of the resistance in finding allies and resources for their fight against the First Order.
