Let's Go!

Davies presents a good survey of the science, theology and philosophy involved in considering the question, "are we alone in the universe."

And there is all sorts of value in exploring, with rockets and radios, to answer the question. Even when our results are unclear, the tools and techniques we created extend our capabilities.

From a Changeling Star by Jeffrey A. Carver

Mind bending.

Fun science fiction with all kinds of dimensions. Wrapped around the mystery of Willard Ruskin and what has happened (been done?) to him. As he struggled to regain/retain his memories, the story takes you into and beyond the heart of a dying star. A very nice contrast to more conventional space opera.

The Right Stuff!

I imagine the best thing about this book was the author's experience writing it. She researched, met and spoke with an incredible team of women who formed an invisible (far too invisible!) backbone to our launching into space.

I forget who said it, but in many ways JPL is our "Star Fleet" - a dedicated crew of people devoted to exploring the farthest reaches - after all, with the Voyagers, they really did launch the first starships.
