Binti by Nnedi Okorafor

Binti (Binti, #1)Binti by Nnedi Okorafor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Impressive.

I picked this up some time ago and never got around to reading it - I spotted it in the latest Hugo awards and pulled it up, and couldn't stop reading it.

Fascinating and mysterious. I'm reminded of a Heinlein juvenile narrator, say Podkayne or Kip. An engaging voice, and a mystery with all kinds of unexplained details that you slowly learn as you read the story. Now I'm inspired to read more by Okorafor (which my phone wanted to correct to "Colorado").

(Bonus! There's a sequel in the works for 2017!)

Star Trek Insurrection by J.M. Dillard

Again, not to everyone's taste, but I enjoyed Dillard's fleshing out of the story and the interactions to the characters as they encountered the "metaphasic radiation."
