Spock's World by Diane Duane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Classic Trek. And a better outcome than the "brexit."
I pulled this out for some pleasant listening - though I have paper and e- book copies, I also have this abridged (by Diane Duane) audio*TAPE* version, read by George Takei and Leonard Nimoy. With some music and effects, it's a very satisfying version (though lacking Duane's Micheneresque forays into Vulcan prehistory from the full book). My only complaint is that Takei's voice for the computer... just doesn't match the way I hear her when I read the book. Other than that though, he does a terrific job on all the characters. And having Spock's thoughts voiced by Nimoy - excellent! This is one (both audio and print) I re-read on a regular basis.
And it was serendipitous to read of a Vulcan vote to exit the Federation just when Britain, sadly, had a similar vote.
