The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Out of this world!
This book lands in "history" and "sf" for categories, since Robinette-Kowal does such an excellent job of weaving real history and experiences into her alt-history story of an early-50's international space program driven to give humanity a second chance. A meteor strike devastates the world - but leaves a legacy that will ruin humanity's future... unless they are able to establish human settlements on other planets.
The details of flight, history of WASP and human calculators is terrific - really unbeatable - I can't wait for the next installment.
