Citizen of the Galaxy
Robert A. Heinlein

Now THIS should be made into a movie. Beggars and slums. Slaves, space going communities of traders, Galactic League troops. Pirates. It is like a Prince and the Pauper story, but... well I won't give it away, but it is classic Heinlein (1957). Hundreds of years in the future, BTW and people are still using slide rules! Very good story!

The Door Into Summer,
by Robert Heinlein

A charming book. A heist story. A story from when 1970 was the FUTURE, and 2000 was the far, FAR future! A great set of twists, with double crosses, double-double crosses, time travel, robots and more. Heinlein has a number of prescient things - a robot that sounds remarkably like a Roomba. An attack on America that left rubble and scars on the national psyche. Very fun, and well thought out story.

New Song
by Jan Karon

Yet another story of Father Tim and friends. Touching, inspiring and all. A charming, restful story that made a nice departure from fighting worms and virii on the University network and fighting bueracracy in the St. Paul Schools. Time to take a little break from Mitford, but I'll be back.
